Gary O. Phillips, CPA, MBA, CVA [Partner] Gary O. Phillips is a partner in the firm and focusing on financial reporting, taxation, computer consulting, business advisory services, litigation support and business valuations. He has worked with clients in a variety of industries including apparel, law, real estate, manufacturing, travel and insurance. Gary began his accounting career at Arthur Andersen & Co., prior to joining Smith, Lange & Phillips LLP. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and has served on several professional accounting committees. In addition to being a CPA, Gary is also a Certified Valuation Analyst. As such, he has valued numerous businesses, Family Limited Partnerships and Estates for Buy-Sell Agreements, Family Gifting and Estate Tax purposes. He is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. Gary earned a B.A. in business administration and an M.B.A. from Humboldt State University. He has since pursued additional studies at the University of California at Berkeley. Living with his wife in San Rafael, California, Gary is a San Rafael City Councilman and a former member of the San Rafael School Board. Gary's three children have careers of their own, and work as an aerospace engineer, a high school teacher, and a University student.
